In case you haven’t heard, here’s a friendly reminder that RLS XL – our “extra-large” 1-5/8″ and 2-1/8″ couplings, elbows, tees and reducers – are available at RLS distributors around the world. These are the largest HVAC/R press fitting sizes available, giving RLS the most complete product line in the industry.

While we realize that most contractors won’t have a regular need for these sizes, for those who specialize in large HVAC and refrigeration projects, including grocery stores, data centers, refrigerated warehouses and others, RLS XL fittings are a real game changer when it comes to installation ease, speed and safety – especially in new construction.

Not only do these types of “income-generating” construction projects require a large number of joints, but there is typically a great deal of urgency to get the building open and operating – so installation speed is critical. And since brazing takes longer as tube diameters get larger, RLS XL fittings offer even greater time savings than our standard sizes.

Keep in mind that RLS XL fittings are not used with standard tools and jaws. A 32 kN long-throw tool is required, along with an RLS actuator jaw and collar jaws. Also, while the tube preparation is the same as it is with 1/4” to 1-3/8” RLS fittings, the pressing process is slightly different due to the different types of jaws used.
